About TheQuoteGuys

The name isn't a brand conceit. We're literally the guys.

We’re Ben and Matt, the guys behind TheQuoteGuys. Not a VC-backed startup. Not a national directory run out of Sydney. Just two Queenslanders who kept running into the same problem and eventually decided to fix it themselves.

Ben spent a full weekend trying to get someone to pressure wash his driveway in Brisbane. Six calls. Two callbacks, both days late. He ended up finding someone through a neighbour. Matt had the same experience with a pool safety inspection before a property settlement: phone tag, vague pricing, and a tradie who pulled out the morning it was booked.

We compared notes and realised it wasn’t bad luck. This is just how finding a tradie works in Queensland. Word of mouth or frustration. Hours of searching, wildly inconsistent pricing, no easy way to know who’s actually licensed and who just bought a ute.

So that’s us. That’s the name. TheQuoteGuys are the guys who got sick of the problem and built something about it.

Queensland suburban backyard

What we built

TheQuoteGuys is a simple idea: fill in one form, get matched with up to 3 local licensed Queensland tradies, compare their quotes, and pick the one you want, or nobody. Free for homeowners, no obligation, no follow-up spam.

The “local” part matters more than it sounds. Queensland is a big state with its own climate, regulatory environment, and way of doing things. QBCC licences are Queensland-specific. Storm-season timing affects when jobs should and shouldn’t be done. We wanted a platform built around that local knowledge, not a national directory that treats Toowoomba the same as Toorak.

Who we are

We both run EHUSTLE PTY LTD, the company behind the platform. Ben is an ex-qualified electrician, so he knows the trade side from the inside: how jobs are priced, what licences actually mean, and what separates a tradie who communicates from one who doesn’t. Matt brings 15 years in marketing, which is why the platform works the way it does — no confusing forms, no spam, no dark patterns.

Between us we’ve got the two things you actually need to build something like this: trade knowledge and an understanding of how to make it easy to use. This isn’t our first project, but it’s the one we use ourselves.

We’re not a directory you browse. We’re not a marketplace where tradies outbid each other publicly. We don’t charge homeowners. We don’t sell your data. We match your job to a small number of vetted local operators and let them reach out directly. Old-fashioned, maybe, but it’s how a good referral actually works.

The tradie side of things

The other brand we operate under is 20 Dollar Lead Guys, a nod to how we work with tradies. We charge a simple per-lead fee: not a percentage of the job, not a monthly subscription, not pay-per-click. A flat fee for a verified homeowner enquiry in your area. That keeps our incentives aligned: we only make money if we send tradies leads worth their time.

We’re selective about who joins the platform. We check licences, verify insurance, and take quality of service seriously. A tradie who consistently gets bad feedback gets removed. One who does great work and communicates clearly gets more leads.

Where we’re at

TheQuoteGuys is in its early stages. We’re currently live across 20 suburbs in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Moreton Bay, Toowoomba, Townsville, and Redlands, covering 10 trades. We’re expanding to more suburbs and more trades through 2025.

If you have a question, a problem with a quote, or you’re a tradie who wants to join, the contact form is the best way to reach us. We both read every message.
