Insured gutter cleaner checklist for Queensland homes

A useful gutter-cleaning quote should explain access and height controls as well as the cleaning result. Use this checklist to compare providers on the same scope, not on a vague per-hour price. When you are ready, request up to 3 free quotes from suitable Queensland tradies.

Compare a complete total for access, gutters, downpipes and debris removal

Quote Guys does not publish an unsupported market average. Roof height, pitch, access, gutter length, guards, condition and downpipe work can materially change the written total.

Guide step 01

Insurance and business checks

Ask for the provider's legal business name and ABN, then request current evidence of the insurance they say covers the proposed activity. Check that the insured entity matches the business you are hiring and that the policy period covers the work date.

A certificate is not a guarantee of coverage for every event. If the work is unusual or high risk, ask the provider or insurer what activity is covered. Where the scope includes regulated building work or repairs, check whether a relevant QBCC licence is required.

  • Legal business name and ABN
  • Current public-liability certificate in the same entity name
  • Policy dates and the activity the provider says is covered
  • Any relevant QBCC licence for repair or building work added to the scope
  • Who will attend and whether subcontractors are used
Guide step 02

Access and working-at-height questions

Gutter work can involve edges, ladders, steep or fragile roofing and falling debris. Ask how the provider assessed the site and what controls, equipment and exclusion zone they plan to use.

Do not treat an insurance certificate as a substitute for a safe work method. WorkSafe Queensland advises businesses to identify fall hazards and use appropriate control measures for the actual task.

Guide step 03

Define the finished result

State whether the job includes hand removal, vacuuming, flushing, downpipe checks, bagging and removal of debris, before-and-after photos and a condition report. Gutter repairs, guard removal, bird proofing and roof repairs should be separately identified.

Before you request quotes

Copy this checklist into your job brief.

  1. 1Give the storey count, roof type, approximate gutter length and access constraints.
  2. 2Ask for the cleaning method and working-at-height approach.
  3. 3Confirm downpipes, gutter guards, valleys and debris removal in writing.
  4. 4Request before-and-after photos if you cannot safely inspect the result.
  5. 5Check the business identity, current insurance and any licence relevant to added repair work.
  6. 6Separate cleaning, repairs and optional extras so every quote covers the same scope.

Questions homeowners ask

Practical answers before you compare quotes.

What insurance should I ask a gutter cleaner to show?

Ask for current evidence of the insurance the provider says covers the proposed gutter-cleaning activity. Check the insured entity name and policy dates, and ask questions if the work or access is unusual.

Should gutter cleaning include downpipes?

Do not assume it does. Ask whether visible downpipe inlets, flushing, blockage diagnosis or downpipe clearing are included, and have exclusions listed in writing.

How do I compare gutter-cleaning quotes?

Give each provider the same property and access information, then compare cleaning method, height controls, inclusions, debris removal, photos, exclusions and total price. Quote Guys can help Queensland homeowners request up to three free quotes.
