What usually changes the price
A useful quote needs more than a photo of the canopy. Providers need to understand the whole tree, the fall zone, nearby structures and how equipment can reach the site.
- Tree height, trunk diameter, condition and the number of major limbs
- Distance from buildings, fences, roads, pools and overhead services
- Whether climbing, an elevated platform, crane, traffic control or specialist rigging is needed
- Vehicle access, slope, soft ground and the distance to the chipper or truck
- Whether stump grinding, green-waste removal and final site clean-up are included
- After-hours attendance or make-safe work before the full removal
Separate the urgent make-safe from the final scope
An urgent attendance may only make the area safe. Ask the provider to state whether the price covers an inspection, temporary stabilisation, branch removal, full tree removal, stump grinding and disposal.
Ask for any follow-up work and exclusions to be priced separately. This makes it easier to compare urgent responses without assuming every quote includes the same outcome.
Check local rules before work starts
